Adventure in Italy: Florence, Day 2

Standard

From Rome, which spans so many periods and art movements, to Florence, where the Renaissance reigns supreme, we’re traveling through history in the present moment. A beautiful train ride brought us to a city I’m crazy, head over heels about. Florence welcomed us with its usual grace and elegance — the perfect host.  We had amazing food and wine, with a view to boot! Drinking from the cup of life and loving it. Travel makes me feel expanded and alive. Learning more history and ogling great art feeds my soul. Cheers to the roads we travel doing it our way!

Adventure in Italy: Rome, Day 1

Standard

What a day. Tired and jet lagged and not caring one bit. Started the day with coffee in one of my favorite piazzas in the world, the Piazza Navona. Gazing at my favorite fountain, Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, I had to pinch myself. Am I really in Rome? I spent time with Caravaggio’s Calling of St. Matthew, about the most perfect example that the Renaissance had ended and that there was a new movement called Baroque, which would leave its mark on the city in a big way. We ended the day with a Rex Segway tour of the city. What a joy and a hoot, zipping around town on the Segway while the amazing Leo filled us in on the layers of history! Life is good and art makes it better!
