Painting of the Week: The Goddess of Chardonnay (bin616 Chardonnay)

Standard

ImageStephanie is excited to announce the use of her artwork on the new bin616 line of wines, available exclusively at the Amway Hotel Collection, including JW Marriott, Amway Grand Plaza and Courtyard by Marriott hotels! Her colorful pieces — two figurative, in honor of us, the wine drinkers; two centered on the land, a nod to the farmers, the winemakers and the fruit itself — will appear on bottles of bin616 Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.

The Goddess of Chardonnay: “Play your song across my palate …”

“I want to lie on a bed of grapes, clad in red stilettos, as a glass of Chardonnay materializes in my hand — don’t you? This painting is about that kind of fantasy and joy.

“The origin of this painting’s inspiration goes back almost a decade. In the sun-drenched streets of Madrid, I found the grand and glorious Museo del Prado, one of my favorite museums in the world. In the Prado, side by side, hang naked and clothed renditions of Francisco Goya’s “Maja.” It’s the same painting of the same dark-haired model reclining against a cushion, draped and undraped, both commissioned by the Prime Minister. The Naked Maja was swapped out for the Clothed Maja when the Spanish Inquisition’s far-reaching eye was around. I found this completely fascinating. From this original inspiration, I needed to make it my own, put my stamp on it, and for that, I turned to my themes of celebration the joy of life and the wonderful complexities of wine.

“Chardonnay is one of those wines that can take on many characteristics. It tends to be a heavier and more complex wine — to me, reminiscent of a beautiful sunset. Tasting through the layers brings to mind the lush, rolling hills from which the grapes originate. It’s all there in the bottle, ready to join you. Whether you enjoy that glass of golden nectar over dinner or on its own, with friends or solo, in celebration of a special occasion or just the everyday, this painting is about those moments of your life when you can kick your heels up, throw your head back and just be. Cheers to you!”
